Health Promotion, Education, and Behavior
There is a growing awareness in public health about the importance of learning not just what should and can be done to improve the public's health, but also how it can be done in a way that is cost-effective, embedded in community structures and culture and at a large enough scale to have real impact.
Graduate Degrees
The graduate programs in health promotion, education, and behavior include the Master of Public Health, designed for individuals with aspirations to be practitioners in health department, community, school or worksite settings. An accelerated professional master option is available via online delivery, and our dual degree program with social work is intended to permit students to earn two distinct but complementary graduate degrees.
The Ph.D. program prepares graduates for leadership and skills in research, teaching and professional service.

The Master of Public Health in Health Promotion, Education, and Behavior degree is designed for individuals who aspire to be practitioners in community, school or worksite settings. The program requires 45 hours of coursework, including a six-hour practicum.

The Doctor of Philosophy in Health Promotion, Education, and Behavior degree prepares graduates for leadership and skills in research, teaching and professional service. The Ph.D. prepares graduates to assume leadership roles that emphasize research and teaching activities; these positions are often located in academic or other research settings. The degree requires 60 hours of graduate coursework, including 12 hours of dissertation preparation.

This joint degree program (Master of Social Work/Master of Public Health) is intended to permit students to earn two complementary and distinct graduate degrees.
Through special arrangement, the university offers dual degree programs in certain areas to permit a student to work on two degrees concurrently by combining credits, resulting in the student taking fewer courses than the total required if each degree were pursued independently.

The certificate of graduate study in aging is designed to address the needs of professionals who are currently engaged or will be engaged in activities that include planning, administration and the provision of services for older citizens.
